The Jennifer Garner romantic comedy-drama, "Catch and Release," is slated to open nationwide on January 26, but we probably won't get it.
Why? Word is that the movie isn't very good, and the result of test screenings has caused the number of prints being made to be reduced from more than 2,000 to about 1,700. When it gets down that low, rural markets often get left out.
We think it would do well here, not because the film is great art (who knows?), but because romantic comedies in the middle of winter do well in Robinson.
You would think that if you own a movie theater you would care more and more about films, but the reality is that you care more and more about box office and realize that the quality of the film doesn't have as much to do with the size of the box office as you might expect.
Weird.
